About us
Twenty years in the ledger, now on your side of it.
Cox Accounting Services was founded in 2016 to meet the financial service needs of small and mid-size companies — the ones big enough to need real accounting, and not yet big enough to staff a department for it.
Who we are
Deriane Cox, MBA
Founder · BBA, MBA
Deriane has spent more than twenty years in accounting and finance, holding positions at multiple corporations from staff accountant through to financial controller. That work spans food and beverage manufacturing, technology, commercial sign manufacturing and construction, among other industries.
Since founding the firm in 2016, we've worked with businesses across construction, online retail, plumbing, restaurants and medical, as well as with non-profit organizations.
Today the team is strong and eager to work for you. Every engagement is staffed with an experienced accountant — you always know whose desk your books sit on.
Not a junior learning on your ledger. Someone who has sat in the controller's chair.

How we practice
Four things we hold to
A close calendar, not a close season
Your statements land on the same day each month. If a date is going to slip, you hear it from us before it does.
Fixed monthly fees
Scope and price are agreed up front. Calling your accountant with a question shouldn't start a meter.
Documented, not improvised
Every engagement gets written procedures and a chart of accounts that makes sense for your business — so the work survives any one person.
Plain language
Statements come with a short note on what changed and why. If we think a number is a problem, we say so.
